Teaching Tumblr!

Utilizing various Web 2.0 tools into the classroom on a regular basis is difficult. It is even more difficult when teachers who wish to use these tools, do not know the basics of how to incorporate them. The following Prezi, article, and PDF files contain information about using the Web 2.0 tool of Tumblr within a secondary Social Studies or English classroom setting. While that may not be a category specific to you, take a look at the broad range of ideas presented. The Prezi is something that educators who are familiar with Tumblr can use if they were to give a professional development to their peers on using Tumblr in the classroom. The article about Tumblr is from a website that manages to detail and explain in a simplistic fashion the logistics to navigating it. Finally the three PDFs contain: a lesson plan for teaching the professional development along with handouts, the second is a sample lesson for teachers to use as a take away from the professional development, and the last is a detailed tech list that coincides with one of the handouts from the professional development lesson plan. These documents together manage to give both those technological savvy and those who have never been great with computers not only an overview of how to use Tumblr, but how to incorporate it into the classroom with a range of grade levels and content areas. Enjoy!
